The Association of Sports Industry Enterprises (APSI) was created in April of 2004.
The Association unites both the leading players of sports industry and the smaller companies:
- Manufacturers of sporting goods (apparel, footwear, equipment, accessories);
- Distributors;
- Wholesalers and retailers;
- Builders of sports facilities, stadiums, sites.
On June 15, 2004 APSI became the member of the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI). In January 2006 APSI joined the Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry (FESI).
Under the initiative of the Association, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation created the Subcommittee for Promotion of Entrepreneurship in the Sports Industry and Sports, headed by the APSI President Vyacheslav Starshinov.
APSI participates in the activities of the Standing Working Group on the Development of the Sports Industry under the the Presidium of the Presidential Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sports.
APSI engages with the public bodies of virtually all federal ministries and departments vital for the development of the sports industry (the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the Public Chamber of Russia, the Ministry of Sport of Russia, the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, the Ministry of Regional Development of Russia, FA Rosstandart, Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, Customs Committee of Russia).
