Uzbekistan plans to produce Nike and Adidas shoes. Fakhriddin Boboev, Chairman of the uzcharmsanoat Association, told the local magazine "Economic review" that an agreement was reached between The Association and world-famous brands to establish the production of sports shoes in the country.
According to Boboev, Uzbekistan has a significant amount of high-quality leather raw materials, as well as a relatively cheap labor force, which will allow the country to establish the production of clothing of world brands in the future. He also noted that the country plans to turn Uzbekistan into a Central Asian manufacturing hub of this industry.
"We have reached an agreement with leading companies such as Nike and Adidas, providing access to our market. The plant of SinoInternational JV LLC plans to produce 3 million pairs of sneakers of world – famous brands on outsourcing terms," said Fakhriddin Boboev.
According to the Fibre2Fashion portal, the export of Uzbek-made clothing and textiles grew by 112%, reaching the level of 1 billion US dollars in the first half of 2020, which was facilitated by entering new markets and expanding the product range.
