The Ministry of sports of the Russian Federation provides national teams with sports equipment, 90% of which is produced in Russia.
Minister of sports Oleg Matytsin notes that for some sports, uniforms have to be purchased from foreign partners due to the unique specifics, as well as the requirements of international sports federations. Therefore, it is important for the sports industry to develop Russian technologies for the production of sports equipment and equipment in order to maximize import substitution.
"Quite a large amount of purchases are made by regional and municipal authorities, institutions, large corporations for national teams of regions, labor collectives, educational institutions, participants of mass physical culture and sports events, including in the framework of the development of school, student and corporate sports programs. We consider it appropriate for the relevant managers to also focus on domestic producers," the Minister concluded.
Recall that former Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian government Olga Golodets spoke on the issue of import substitution in the fall of 2019. According to her, imported equipment and equipment are quite expensive and often beyond the means of small clubs and sports schools. However, domestic equipment is no less expensive for the reason that it is not produced by many people.
